FALL BOOK TOUR
PANDEMIC TOWN HALL FOR YOUTH
In this unique and nonpartisan virtual Town Hall, Rep. Meyer, representing NC House District 50 (Orange and Caswell Counties), takes questions from youth, teachers, child-care providers, youth ministers, and others who work with youth. The Town Hall emphasis is on youth--contributions they can make to their communities, how to better serve youth during a pandemic, and questions youth have for their state representative.
Rep. Meyer is a social worker who has spent his career working in North Carolina’s public schools.
The “Pandemic Town Hall for Youth” is prompted by the civic issues and opportunities for youth raised in THERE OUGHT TO BE A LAW: A BRIGHT DAY AT THE STATE CAPITOL, an award-winning children’s book about how laws are made in state government and endorsed by former Gov. Jim Hunt and teachers, parents, and professors of education.
This second Pandemic Town Hall follows a successful first Town Hall that featured NC state Senator Don Davis.
The April 29 virtual Town Hall will be moderated by Portia Bright-Pittman and Dr. Calvin Mercer, authors of the children’s book and both with extensive experience in government.

-All Authors will receive throughout March honorable mentions on Portia's radio show "The Press Release" which airs every Monday at 2pm EST nationally in the USA and in the Dominican Republic on IHeart Radio as well as promoted on all Bright Books social platforms.
-The first 5 Authors to sign up will be a special guest on IHeart Radio to discuss books and their journey as a Author and/or business ventures. You will be notified about your interview.
After registration, please email with your name in the subject line: A Bio and a photo of yourself you would like on your flyer advertisement to
brightbooks@brightbooks.org within 72hours before your interview.

NC SENATOR DONALD (DON) DAVIS
Donald G. Davis represents the Fifth Senatorial District of North Carolina, which consists of Pitt and Greene counties.
Don is a member of the following standing committees: Education/Higher Education, Appropriations on Education/Higher Education, Agriculture/Environment/Natural Resources, Health Care, and Rules. He served as the mayor of Snow Hill for seven years. Don served as a member of the East Carolina University Board of Visitors for eight years. He has over 20 years in higher education and served over 8 years active duty in the United States Air Force.
He is a 1994 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences degree. Don graduated from Central Michigan University with a Master of Science in Administration degree with a concentration in general administration and East Carolina University with a Master of Arts in Sociology degree with a concentration in social issues in regional development. He holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership degree with a concentration in higher education administration from East Carolina University.
Don has completed courses in the Commissioned Lay Pastor program in the Presbyterian Church United States of America through the Presbytery of New Hope. Since 2003, he has provided ministerial support at Saint James Presbyterian Church in Snow Hill.
He is married to Yuvonka Shawnte Batts and has three sons-- Ryan, Justin and Kyler.
